Are you in search of your perfect wedding dress? Sometimes picking a dress can be hard, and sometimes it can be incredibly easy. But before you go saying yes to just any dress, here are a couple questions to ask yourself before you cross it off your list by purchasing a gown.
1. Will this dress be appropriate for the season?
Think about the season and time of day you are getting married. If your dress is a thick material, it might not be smart to purchase during an outside summer wedding. If you fall in love with a beachy and flowy dress, even if its beautiful, if you are getting married in the winter it might not be the best choice.
2. Is this dress practical?
Don't forget that weddings are big parties. So can you move in the dress that you love? If you can't dance in it, then it might not be your best choice, if you can't walk in it, then you defiantly need to keep looking.
3. What additional accessories will I need to purchase to accent this dress?
Some dresses might need small accessories to complete it, like jewelry or a belt, and sometimes the dress doesn't need a whole lot. Think of your budget and how many accessories you are going to need to compete your look.
4. Are alterations included in the dress price?
If alterations aren't, you'll need to factor that into your budget. Also see if the salon offers alterations as an add on and how much they charge. And if your salon doesn't, see who they recommend, or find a seamstress with a good rep to make your alterations.
5. How trustworthy is the bridal salon you intend to purchase from?
Do your research. Look at all the bridal salons in your area, read the reviews (the good AND the bad). You don't want to choose a salon that has more of a bad track record then one who has the most good reviews.
6. Will shipping my dress to another state save money on tax?
Check on the tax laws for where you purchase your dress, sometimes you can save money if you have to ship your dress from another state. See what your salon's options are. Sometimes the stores shipping fees are still just as much.
7. When will my dress arrive?
Your dress should always arrive enough time before your wedding day for alterations if they are needed.
8. How many fittings will I need to get this dress perfect?
Depending on how many changes you are planning to make for your dress, you will need to make sure you calculate how many fittings you are going to need and make sure you plan accordingly
9. Are their any upcoming promotions or sales that the salon is offering?
Check with you salon if they have a clearance sale coming, or even an upcoming trunk show. Sometimes waiting for the sale is a good idea if it will save you a lot of money.
10. What is the return policy on the dress?
No one wants to return their dress, but sometimes life happens and things go wrong. You'll want to know what the return policy is in case there is a reason to return.
